Abstract:Abstract: The cGAS-STING pathway is an innate immune mechanism that has been received extensive at-tention in recent years. Cytoplasmic DNA is recognized by cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) and then cGAS catalyzes ATP and GTP to synthesize cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP). Subsequently, cGAMP binds to and acti-vates stimulator of interferon genes (STING), which induces a series of innate immune responses including production of typeⅠinterferons. More and more studies have shown that cGAS-STING pathway plays an im-portant role in infectious diseases, autoimmune diseases and tumor immunology. This review summarizes ac-tivation of cGAS-STING pathway and its immune response and mechanism in the defense against viruses, bacteria and parasites, hoping to find new targets for treatment of infectious diseases.
