Abstract:Abstract: Nicotine is an addictive substance of great concern in tobacco products. It’s one of the main rea-sons why smokers continue to use tobacco products. Alpha7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR) is one of the most abundant receptors found in the brain and has functions related to learning and memory, cogni-tive impairment, neurodegenerative diseases and drug addiction. In recent years, plenty of studies have re-ported the effects of regulating α7nAChR on the behavior of experimental animals in the formation and ex-tinction phases of nicotine addiction, implicating the important roles of α7nAChR in mechanisms of nicotine addiction. Herein, the roles of α7nAChR in different stages of nicotine addiction and its mechanisms are re-viewed, in the hope of providing theoretical support for further research.
