Abstract:Abstract: Analysis of animal predator’s feeding is the core content in studying animal energy and nutrition demand, feeding strategy, habitat utilization and interspecific relationship in ecosystem. Therefore, it is a basic problem in ecology and has been concerned by biologists for decades. In the process of biological control of agricultural pests, the food spectrum of natural enemies should be made clear and their food intake should also be estimated, so as to truly achieve the purpose of using predatory natural enemies to control pests. How to obtain the accurate food spectrum and predation quantity of a predator has always been the difficulty in the field of food analysis and the research focus in the field of biological control. Herein, the types and re-search progress of predatory natural enemies feeding analysis methods at home and abroad are reviewed, and a new spider feeding analysis method based on DNA barcoding and digital PCR technology is introduced, which can accurately and quantitatively analyze spider feeding, and break through the difficulty of exploring “what to eat” and “how much to eat” of predatory natural enemies such as spiders, aiming to provide scientific information for people to fully understand and objectively evaluate the role of natural control force in ecosystem.
