Abstract:Abstract: The psychological conditions of people have been changed more or less since the outbreak of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In order to investigate psychological condition changes in crowds and relevant influential factors, a random sampling survey on the network platform was used to send anonymous survey questionnaires to the public. The survey concluded the specific questions for the COVID-19 and the existing questionnaires with good reliability and validity. The results showed that the detection rates of anxiety and depression were 24.49% and 50.92%, respectively, under the new coronavirus epidemic situation. The chi-square test and variance analysis of gender, age, region and other factors showed that the levels of anxiety and depression had no difference in groups. The results were statistically significant. Compared to SARS, COVID-19 has a stronger infection ability and a larger transmission scale, and the government has put more policies and regulations into effect. As there was no statistical difference among people with different exposure rates to the COVID-19, the outbreak could not be the main factor which caused the psychological changes among people. Other reasons, like staying home for too long and changes in personal economic conditions, should also be considered. What’s more, the research compared the differences between COVID-19 and other public health emergencies like SARS, including the causes, severity, influences in human activities and policies response, which would provide a more comprehensive perspective for epidemic prevention.
