Abstract:Abstract: Reactive oxygen species (ROS) is an intermediate product producing in eukaryotic cells, which play an important role in signal transduction, cell response and damage repairing. In the process of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) formation in mitochondria, partial electrons will be leaked from the electron transport chain (ETC) and contact with O2, H2O and NO to produce ROS in cytoplasmic, which is the dominant source of intracellular ROS. At present, producing sites of ROS in mitochondria have been superficially understood, most research results confirmed that the compound Ⅰ and compound Ⅲ are the main source of ROS, whereas complex Ⅱ can also generate slightly ROS. However, exact producing sites of ROS in mitochondria involved in this process are poorly understood, which restricts the deep understanding of its function in mitochondria. Inducing methods and exact producing sites of ROS in different mitochondria complexes are summarized thereby, in order to give a reference for future research of physiology, toxicology and pathology.
